The Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC) is a collaboration between the University of Strathclyde and world leading engineering related manufacturers. Its aim is to drive innovation and improve competitiveness across a broad range of industrial sectors, including aerospace, automotive, energy and marine.
After successfully tendering for the project to design, space plan and furnish this new facility, AFH worked closely with the project architect and the client's own user group to define the brief and ensure the design and layout of the building fulfilled all the client's requirements. As the users are primarily research scientists working on a range of projects, it was imperative that the furniture specification enabled collaborative working while ensuring every user had adequate personal workspace and storage. The areas furnished were reception, open plan offices, cellular offices, meeting and conference rooms and break-out areas.
